The highlights of the project include a budget of Rs. 40000 crores, 26 segments, 19 intake wells, 56 water treatment plants, 18160 overhead tanks, reservoirs, 5225 km. of primary pipeline, 45500 km. of secondary pipeline, and 75000 km. of distribution network, which will together provide drinking water connections to 24224 villages in 5 phases. These connections will supply 100 liters of water to every person in rural areas, 135 liters per head in towns, and 150 liters per head in cities.

In the first phase of the project, works comprising the set-up of 70262 household connections, 793 km. of pipeline through 150 overhead tanks were completed on war-footing in 243 villages of Gajwel constituency. MEIL worked on war-footing to complete the segment within the stipulated time of 24 months from the project start date. The company will also execute works relating to pipeline setup in villages, and operation & maintenance of service reservoirs for a period of 10 years. For this purpose, watchman quarters have been arranged for each pump house.

Mission Bhagiratha (Gajwel Segment) will be recognized in the two Telugu-speaking states and across India as the first drinking water project to be executed before the completion date.

The 10 MW Canal Top Project is located on Vadodara Branch Canal from Km. 26 to Km. 37. The execution of the project required specific design and construction methodology due to the restricted construction space that runs for a long span of the length of the canal. The plant is built using Solar Photovoltaic Crystalline Technology with around 33800 solar panels.

This project is one of the first of its kind in the world that aims to produce green energy through its strategic canal-top location. Such a location would save costs relating to land acquisition. The plant will also save millions of liters of water from getting evaporated. Because of its multiple advantages, the project is looked upon as a model plant by other state governments.

Global Consultancy Company KPMG has listed the Narmada Canal-top Solar Project in its Economic Power Projects Report which listed out the world’s top 100 innovative infrastructure projects. The project is one of the six projects selected by KPMG from India.

This prestigious project from UP Power Transmission Corporation Limited involves the construction of 7 substations & transmission lines for a total length of 1116 circuit km. The salient features of the project include 765 KV & 400 kV substations along with 765 KV single circuit & 400 KV double circuit lines. The project is being executed on BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) basis with a maintenance period of 35 years.

The 7 substations of 765 kV (2 nos.) and 400 kV (5 nos.) are of two types: Air Insulated Substations (AIS) and Gas Insulated Substations (GIS). GIS involves the use of an inert gas – sulphur haxaflouride for insulation, because it has a much higher dielectric strength than air or dry nitrogen. GIS is the latest technology attempted in India by MEIL. The project demands the use of advanced technologies like Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) system & Optic Fiber Ground Wire (OPGW) system which are approved by SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). A total of 200 nos. of technical manpower and close to 1800 nos. of labor workforce have been deployed for the execution of the project.

Lot 1: The Lot 1 elements of WUPPTCL consisting of 190KM of 765KV S/C Quad bersimis & 16KM of 400KM D/C Quad moose lines & two Sub Stations namely 765/400/220KV AIS Gr.Noida & 400/220KV AIS Sikandrabad SS were commissioned & charged successfully from PGCIL 765 KV Agra Meerut line on 17th Mar 2016 without fault alarm.

In India such big Sub Stations of 765KV voltages were designed, constructed & commissioned only by Government entity i.e PGCIL or by other Companies on EPC basis. This is the first time in India that such big Sub Stations of 765KV voltages have been Designed, Constructed & Commissioned a by Private developer (MEIL) on BOOT basis.
